Internships

Studentjobs.gov
Database of job opportunities with the Federal Government. Learn more about government agencies or create a profile and be notified of possible job matches. Includes other related governmental job sites.

Federal Government Internships
Annual listing of internship opportunities within the federal government. Available to undergraduates, graduate, and law students. Includes contact information, web sites, and deadline information.Enter "internships" in the search box at the top of the page.

CIA Internships
Undergraduate internship and co-op programs and graduate studies programs through the CIA.

Department of State Internships
U.S. Dept of State. Gain experience in a foreign affairs environment through an internship in Washington D.C. or at an embassy overseas. Highly competitive program. Applications available in Career Employment area of Career Services. Deadlines: summer- November 1st; fall- March 1st; and Spring- July 1st.

FBI Internships
Internships in various divisions located in DC and other California locations.

UCSB Washington Center Internship Program
Provides program overview, deadlines, costs, financial aid, housing information and links to organizations offering internships in DC. Program combines courses, internships and a wide variety of cultural experiences, and offers students a chance to observe public policy first hand. See UCDC Peer Advisor in 2110 North Hall for further details.

UC Center in Sacramento
Program includes courses and internship experience in California’s capital.

Washington Intern Foundation
Search free DC listings and suggestions for interning and working in the DC area. There is a fee to participate in the program.

Professional Associations

Law and Society Association
Interdisciplinary and international group of scholars with an interest in the place law holds in social, political, economic and cultural life. Publishes the Law & Society Review, sponsors annual conferences and educational workshops, and fosters the development of academic programs in law and society around the world.

American Society of Criminology
Their objective is to bring together a multidisciplinary forum fostering criminology study, research, and education. Members include practitioners, academicians, and students in the many fields of criminal justice.

American Political Science Association
Leading professional organization for the study of political science within and outside academe. Brings together political scientists from all fields of inquiry, regions, and occupational endeavors in order to expand awareness and understanding of political life.

American Sociological Association
Country’s largest professional association of sociologists. A non-profit organization dedicated to advancing sociology as a scientific discipline and profession serving the public good. Seeks to provide scholars, including graduate and undergraduate students, with an intellectual community and connections that will be helpful in developing their careers.

American Bar Association
As the largest voluntary professional association in the world, the ABA provides law school accreditation, continuing legal education, information about the law, and seeks to assist lawyers, judges, and the public.

The State Bar of California
Serves as the administrative arm of the California Supreme Court. All lawyers practicing in California must be members of the California State Bar.
