Select your Intern

The Interview
UCSB students will contact you during each placement period unless you specify otherwise. Candidates will call until the Internship Program has been notified that your position is filled. The internship interview is important for both sponsors and students. Please do not hire without it. We urge students to dress and conduct themselves in a professional manner. We encourage sponsors to spend enough time with candidates to insure a mutually beneficial interview process.

Your Availability
Many sponsors designate a person for students to contact to schedule interviews. In some cases, sponsors elect to have students fax or email resumes in advance before setting up interviews. In most cases, the demand is not so overwhelming that this pre-selection system is needed. In either case, please notify us if you get sick, leave town unexpectedly, or decide to cancel the internship position. We'll indicate this for students, or close your listing for that time frame to prevent unnecessary frustration.

Intern Selection & Confirmation
We do not need for you to call us unless you have filled your listing(s), and do not wish to receive additional calls. Please notify the candidates you do not select. It is not uncommon for students to contact you directly through friends or faculty referrals without having gone through a formal process . Please make sure the students you select are registered with the Career Services Internship Program. If they are not, have them call 893-4411 and arrange for an appointment with Deb Artz. This protects your organization especially if you are not paying a salary and/or the student is not getting academic credit.
